Students are receiving a North Carolina Studies Weekly newspaper to read for homework most weeks. This newspaper is to be read at home. Students will take a test on Wednesdays and are able to use the newspaper as a resource during the test. They must bring their own paper back with them in order to have the resource. We ordered one copy for each student in 4th grade (not extras). Students who don't have the newspaper on test day can choose to take the test during study hall (on the same day) and borrow a newspaper from a classmate or take the test without it. Yesterday I gave students ideas of what to pay particular attention to in their reading for the test today. The majority of students choose to take notes on my suggestions. I went through all the information that they would need for the test. It was recommended that students highlight the information that we spoke about yesterday.
Homework is due Tuesday, October 25th. There will be a closed syllable and Social Studies test on Wednesday, October 26th.
